As a partner at Fish & Richardson, the world’s largest intellectual property law firm, Kathi Vidal (formerly Lutton) has been leading and trying for almost 20 years high-profile, high-stakes patent litigation in a myriad of technologies. She advises clients ranging from Fortune 10 companies to start-ups on patent protection and enforcement and other intellectual property matters. Inside and outside of the courtroom, Ms. Vidal is often called upon as an expert on case strategy and hot topics in the law.
Ms. Vidal formerly led the firm’s litigation group (approximately 60% of the firm with 250 lawyers in 11 offices worldwide) and has served on the firm’s Management Committee. She has received numerous accolades for her work, repeatedly being named a Super Lawyer, one of the top 250 women litigators in the country, one of the most influential women in Silicon Valley and one of the top intellectual property litigators in California. She was also inducted as a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society which represents the top less than one half of one percent of American litigators.
Ms. Vidal has a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering and five years of industry experience with GE where she designed aircraft systems. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. She clerked at the Federal Circuit for Judge Alvin Schall and has served on the board of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the Rules Committee for NDCA. She is also actively involved in mentoring women including through the Fortune Most Powerful Women program.
