New York Chapter Launches With Energized Crowd

More than 100 ChIPsters gathered in midtown Manhattan

NEW YORK — The newly formed New York Chapter of ChIPs held its inaugural event in midtown Manhattan, drawing more than 100 women from law firms, companies, academia and government. U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska of the Southern District of New York delivered the keynote address at the Feb. 27 event, offering both reflections on and inspirational words of wisdom for the future of women in law.

Attendees, most of whom have intellectual property backgrounds, included senior vice president of major corporations, professors, PhDs, heads of government and members of the judiciary enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting new ones over cocktails, Bingo and related shop talk.

Chapter leaders are busy planning the next event at the SDNY courthouse, where attendees will get to hear from and mingle with women on the bench.
