ChIPs was founded 20 years ago on a simple but powerful idea: women supporting women. Since then, this concept has enabled us to grow exponentially in numbers, scope and impact.
Around the world, we are one community with one purpose: advancing, supporting and connecting women in tech, law and policy. As we celebrate this milestone, we challenge you to use your power to advance other women in your organization and in your profession.
ChIPs helps build business development by supporting individual and team performance, improving client relations, attracting new talent, fostering professional networking and building firm reputation.
ChIPs provides a powerful platform, robust programming and nurturing interactions to help women from entry-level to the C-suite. But there are actions only you can take:
- Promote career opportunities for other women in your organization.
- Mentor or sponsor at least one woman and support formal or informal mentoring programs.
- Address the “parent trap,” work environments where parents feel penalized for having families.
- Role model good work-life balance.
- Focus on your relationship-building skills.
- Teach other women to be effective coaches.
- Ensure you assign high-profile work to women as well as men.
- Encourage participation in professional organizations and events.
- If you’re not yet leading a team, raise your hand for high-profile assignments.
- Build alliances with colleagues — male and female.
Finally, and most importantly, continue to take ownership of your own career development by seeking leadership roles that build resilience and confidence. As Cecilia Ziniti, CEO of GC AI advises, “Don’t stay in your swim lane — you’re in a pool. What can you do to be a leader?”
For two decades, ChIPs has been here to support you as you pay it forward and support other women.
That is our promise now, and for the next 20 years.
Best regards,
