For our seventh annual Global Summit, we explored NEW FRONTS in the technology, legal and regulatory landscapes. This year’s sessions covered cutting-edge developments in the law, the shifting regulatory landscape for technology companies, challenges facing general counsel, and diversity and inclusion strategies available.
Our speakers included Sallie Krawcheck, Pattie Sellers, Cheryl Mills, Sally Yates and Rebecca Slaughter.
ChIPsters left the Summit feeling inspired, empowered and better connected to other women who work at the intersection of tech, law and policy.
In her opening remarks ChIPs Co-founder and CEO, Mallun Yen asked – actually, she challenged us to take a step towards creating the next movement. The five challenges she gave us:
- Support Your Candidates. Vote. Run for Office.
- Prepare for, and seek out, top leadership positions and boards.
- Get your firms to make concrete commitments to diversity. Start by asking your firm to participate in the ChIPs Inclusion Blueprint Survey
- Put your legal skills to good use, even if it’s outside of your comfort zone or practice area.
- Engage as an active participant in the innovation economy. Ready to make an impact? Consider investing with Summit partners Ellevest and Portfolia.
Connecting Beyond the Ballroom: 5K, Yoga and After Parties:
The Global Summit again offered opportunities for attendees to connect and engage socially. Activities included sponsor hosted “after-parties,” women owned pop-up shops, morning yoga, a 5K walk/run. And this year, we had a special lounge for ChIPsters to relax and re-charge (literally and figuratively)
The RBG lounge was dedicated to one of the law’s most important change-makers (and ChIPs Hall of Fame inductee) Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who celebrated her 25th anniversary in the Supreme Court this year. It was a perfect break from the hustle and bustle of the grand ballroom, and gave our conference-goers a chance to relax with RBG’s favorite opera songs.
