ChIPs is proud to have awarded the ChIPs Scholarship to two third-year law students: Monica Lee of the George Washington University Law School and Bertha Romero Madrigal of UCLA School of Law.

The ChIPs scholarship program was created in 2018 with a generous contribution from Morrison & Foerster to honor Rachel Krevans, a renowned intellectual property litigator from the firm.

ChIPs established the ChIPs Scholarship to encourage women to pursue a career in intellectual property law. The award is awarded annually to an academically qualified 3L law student who has demonstrated commitment to ChIPs core mission of advancing and connecting women in technology, law, and policy. The award is paid to the student’s school to be used for tuition.

The ChIPs Scholarship was created in 2018 with a generous contribution from Morrison & Foerster to honor Rachel Krevans, a renowned intellectual property litigator at the firm. Ms. Krevans’ career spanned nearly three decades of groundbreaking trials and high-profile patent disputes. She was repeatedly recognized as a top IP litigator and a leader in tech law. She was passionately dedicated to the advancement, promotion, and retention of women in tech and IP fields. Rachel served on the law firm advisory board at ChIPs and was inducted into the ChIPs Hall of Fame in 2014.

Today the ChIPs Scholarship is funded by generous donors, including Noreen Krall, one of the ChIPs founders. On her donations, Noreen shared “these women will indeed be a driving force in shaping IP law and expand the diversity of our profession. This is why I have made personal donations to the ChIPs scholarship over the past few years.”
