Chapter Co-chairs Lead Discussion on Topical IP Issues

The New York Chapter of ChIPs held its second event “ChIPs Goes To Court!” on May 1, 2018. The event was held in the law library of the Thurgood Marshall Courthouse on the 25th floor over looking lower Manhattan. The evening featured a very robust panel discussion regarding topical IP issues followed by Q&A. Co-Chair Lisa Knight, VP and Senior IP Counsel at American Express, made the introductory remarks and Co-Chair Caren Khoo, Associate General Counsel at Verizon, moderated. Co-Chairs Carolyn Blankenship, SVP and Associate General Counsel of IP at Thomson Reuters; Laura Sheridan, Senior Patent Counsel at Google; and Dr. Kassie Helm, Counsel at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett provided the interesting discussion. The most unique part of the evening was the networking reception with members of the bench. U.S. District Court Judges Loretta Preska, Vernon Broderick and Valerie Caproni and U.S. Magistrate Judge Stewart Aaron, all of the Southern District of New York, attended and provided attendees with the opportunity to interact with them in an informal manner. A special thanks to Judge Preska for inviting ChIPs to court, and to Co-Chair Naomi Waltman, SVP & Associate General Counsel at CBS. A good time was had by all.
