ChIPs DC Chapter Partners with Google, Georgetown Law and BEACON DC

Startup Law 101: Full-Day Workshop for Female Founders

ChIPs partnered with Google, the The Institute for Technology Law & Policy at Georgetown Law, and BEACON DC to host Startup Law 101, a full-day workshop for female founders.  Thirty experts gave compelling presentations on key legal topics impacting entrepreneurs, such as how to form a new business, intellectual property, contract essentials, websites, advertising and consumer protection, and privacy concerns.  The sold-out event attracted 150 entrepreneurs who joined us to learn and connect.

Speakers included a diverse mix of law firm attorneys, in-house counsel, a former SEC regulator, privacy experts, law professors, and other counsel, who explained the key legal issues facing founders as they launch their businesses. Over lunch, a panel of entrepreneurs shared their stories of overcoming legal hurdles as part of their inspiring journey to business success. The day concluded with a networking happy hour.

This is the second year that the DC Chapter of ChIPs has partnered with Google, BEACON, and Georgetown to produce this event in support of BEACON’s mission to make Washington, DC, the most influential and supportive city for women entrepreneurs in the United States.  The event was made possible by the generous support of our law firm sponsors.
