The ChIPs Member Community: Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

We recently announced the launch of our new ChIPs Member Community, an online community platform designed exclusively for ChIPs members. This community will be the hub for all ChIPs member communications and news, as well as the place for our members to join one (or more) of our 16 regional Chapter groups. You probably have some questions. We have some answers.

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions:

Q: How do I change my email address after I’ve signed up? 

A: You can easily change your email address anytime you want by accessing your online profile.

To update or change your email:

  1. Click on your profile photo in the upper right corner of the screen
  2. Click “Settings” to access your email info
  3. Click “Add/Change Email” to update your email address

Q: Can I sign-up with more than one email address?

A: Yes, you can use multiple email addresses. You can choose to have your notifications delivered to your work or personal email address – it’s up to you! 

To add an email address and set your primary email for community or group notifications:

  1. Click on your profile photo in the upper right corner of the screen
  2. Click “Settings” to access your email info, then “Add/Change Email”
  3. Click “Add another email” to add a new email  
  4. Select the primary email account for email notifications

Q: Can I adjust my group email notification preferences?

A: Yes! You will receive email notifications from the ChIPs Member Community and any group in our community you have opted to join (i.e., Los Angeles Chapter Group, Boston Chapter Group).  You can set your email notification preferences by group to receive notifications instantly, as they’re posted, once a day, in a daily digest, or not at all.

To adjust your email notification settings/preferences:

  1. Go to your Profile and select “Settings”
  2. Click on “Email Settings”
  3. Select an individual group
  4. Set email notification preferences for selected group

You can also update your notification settings for comments, mentions and private messages by scrolling down to “General Preferences.” 

Q: How do I search for another member in the community?

A: You can use the search filters in our member community to help you search and find members by name, sector, organization or industry.

To search for a member:

  1. Go to the menu bar and click on “Members”
  2. In the search field enter your search term such as member name or organization
  3. To narrow your search, filter on sector or industry. Please note that only if a member has opted to include that information in their profile will appear in your search.

Q: Can I send direct private messages to other members in the community? 

A: Yes. You can easily connect with other ChIPsters in our member database and send them a direct private message. Once you find the member you wish to contact, simply double-click their name and click the “message” option.
