About the Speakers:
Foley IP Law Founder Sarah Foley is a registered U.S. patent attorney with over 17 years of experience counseling clients in all areas of intellectual property law. Ms. Foley has deep expertise within the technology sector, including software, hardware, networking, telecommunications and computer systems.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Foley has partnered with clients to protect innovation in areas such as mobile device software and hardware, IoT and connected systems, image processing, natural language processing, network architecture, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence and computer learning, aerospace and aeronautics, robotics and autonomous vehicle systems, machinery, automotive and mechanical technologies.
Gurpreet brings over 14 years of Intellectual Property experience to the organization. She excels in institutionalizing operational excellence and leading multi-disciplined teams to guarantee consistent successful outcomes for clients. She has led IP business groups from Patent Research and Preparation to Patent Licensing and Litigation as well as Trademarks. Gurpreet is a vastly experienced Intellectual Property professional, possessing strong technical, people and operational skills.
She brings in end-to-end IP consulting experience and has consulted several MSMEs for developing IP strategy. She has also worked with Fortune 500 companies, law firms and non-practicing entities across the lifecycle of Intellectual Property.
Palak is Senior IP Counsel for Uber and specializes in patent strategy, intellectual property litigation, and licensing. She advises clients on a broad spectrum of intellectual property issues ranging from risk mitigation to M&A to agreements touching on IP. She champions diversity in the engineering and legal professions through her work within Uber as well as with the Society of Women Engineers and ADAPT. Prior to joining Uber, Palak gained a variety of experience in intellectual property litigation, patent prosecution, and privacy counseling as an associate at Shook, Hardy, & Bacon. She also spearheaded several diversity initiatives and served as the sole associate on the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Palak received her B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. Along with being a registered patent attorney before the USPTO, Palak also holds certifications in the U.S. and Europe from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
