    ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
    The session will be presented by Deanne Maynard, co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s Appellate and Supreme Court practice and associate Lena Hughes.

    Deanne Maynard
    Deanne Maynard co-chairs Morrison & Foerster’s Appellate and Supreme Court practice. Ranked in Band 1 by Chambers for nationwide appeals, Maynard has argued 14 times in the U.S. Supreme Court, including victories in Sandoz v. Amgen and MedImmune v. Genentech. She also argues complex, high stakes cases in courts of appeals, having argued dozens of appeals nationwide. She has particular experience in the Federal Circuit, where she has argued 40 patent appeals. Maynard has successfully represented both patentees and defendants on a wide range of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, software, consumer electronics, medical devices, and more.Deanne serves as Chair of the Federal Circuit’s Advisory Council, which is a conduit between the Court and the public. She is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, selected for her distinction as an appellate lawyer, and currently serves as an officer on its Board of Directors. Before joining Morrison & Foerster, Maynard was an assistant to the U.S. Solicitor General, representing the United States in the U.S. Supreme Court.

    Lena Hughes
    Lena Hughes, a member of Morrison Foerster’s Appellate and Supreme Court practice, handles appeals and critical motions in federal and state courts across the country. Her practice encompasses many issues important to businesses, including restructuring, class actions, securities, false advertising, arbitration, and real estate.  She has presented oral arguments in multiple federal courts of appeals as well as in New York state appellate courts
